God First

I’m going to keep this simple. Place God FIRST, not second third or fourth. Period. I know that many of us think that God is the head of our lives, but in reality, we place other relationships, places and things, before the God who gives us life and provides ALL of our needs and wants. Some of us do not even think about God, until we have found ourselves in challenging circumstances. God does NOT want to be a last resort in our lives, nor does He want to be used and abused by His own creation. God is a jealous God (Exod. 34:34). No, He is not jealous in the ways that we become jealous; God does not tolerate us placing idols before Him, for He is the FIRST, the LAST and the ONLY GOD (Jude 1:25).  In order to assure that we are placing God where He belongs in our life, and operating from a place of intimacy with Him, we must seek and love Him with our WHOLE heart, soul, strength and mind (Luke 10:26-28).

If you were to be very transparent with yourself in this very moment, how would you rate your relationship with God, on a scale of 1-10? Even more important, is your relationship with Him hot, cold or LUKEWARM? I don’t know about you, but when I drink a cup of coffee, I want it to be hot! I can settle for a cold coffee, on a hot day, however………….. if I’m given a lukewarm coffee……..I feel downright violated! My coffee must be hot or cold. Period. God is not a fan of lukewarm either; I must take after my Father (heehee). God has warned us about being lukewarm, as a matter of fact, He said that he would spit us out of His mouth (Rev. 3:15-16)! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want God spitting me out of His mouth.

I want to encourage you to evaluate your relationship with God DAILY. The enemy has plans to devour us on a daily bases, attempting to harden our hearts, steel or souls, weaken our strength and control our minds. The ONLY way to defeat him, is by being in a close, healthy, hot, but not spicy relationship with our Father. God MUST come first, in our lives, or the enemy will find a way to gain access to places within us, where ONLY God should have access to. So, let me offer you a few ways to keep God FIRST…..

“He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” Luke 10:26-28 NKJV
