Got Family?

FAMILY. What comes to mind as you read that word? For many people, when they reflect on their family, they think of unconditional love, protection, stability, unity and everything else that is good. However, for other’s, the thought of family is a thought that they would just rather not waste their time thinking on. I think it’s safe to say, that some families can be very complicated, right? Whether you come from a strong, solid family that is full of love and unification, or a family that is divided, toxic and full of hidden secrets and division, it does not change the fact, that God intended for our families to be a direct representation of His love for us all. God’s Word clearly tells us that, LOVE bears, believes, hopes and endures (amongst many other things); however, how can this be obtained within the family unit, when the Word also tells us that our advisory walks around seeking to devour us, by killing, stealing and destroying? The devil HATES the whole idea of FAMILY, because he unfortunately, lost His family when he was thrown out of Heaven. He will do anything possible to destroy what God has joined together! However, no matter if you come from a flourishing family of love, or a family that has seemed to fail greatly in the love department, allow for God’s Word to be the example of what He attended family to be, from the very start.
LOVE BEARS: There is something special about carrying each other’s burdens. No one should have to suffer alone. We should stand with one another with the sole purpose to help, rather, to hinder. Bearing one another’s burdens does not involve gossiping, nor kicking each other when we are already down. When we bear one another’s burdens, we are choosing to help carry the weight of each other’s cross. Love gives us the desire to cover/protect one another.
LOVE BELIEVES: Trust is established when we can take people for their word, rather judging them based off of gossip, slander or a conflicting moment in their life. Trust is also established, when we can talk about the hursts, pains and injustices that we may have experienced, without being ridiculed and not believed. If we love one another, then we operate from a place of Godly wisdom, rather, jumping to the worst conclusion of one another, without facts to support our claims.
LOVE HOPES: No matter how a person has shown themselves to be, we must believe that God can restore that person’s heart if that person truly wants healing and deliverance. Love does not wish anyone to hell; love hopes and prays for spiritual transformation.
LOVE ENDURES: When difficult times come, love will unify and not divide.
Families are most definitely, full of complicated people, with complicated testimonies. However....... whether our family members are blood related, marriage related, or full of great people that we met along the way, there is much to be learned. I pray that we learn from the bad and embrace what is good, allowing for each circumstance to mold us into the servant that God has ordained for us to be!
