The Family: Wife
Today’s society has a way of convincing women that marriage is no longer important to the family structure. As a matter of fact, today’s society seems to glorify being single, shacking up, having children out of wedlock and being Ms. Independent, not needing a man for anything. A woman does not even need a man to bear a child anymore. Some may agree with the way that the world is going, but God is NOT pleased. God established marriage, gender and marital roles in the Garden of Eden, when He created MAN and WOMAN in his image. The WIFE was ordained by God, Himself, to be an important asset to her husband, family, church, community and to the institution of marriage as a whole. The WIFE is an important and very loved, creation of God. Unless you were called by God to be single, earnestly working to build up the Kingdom, as Mary of Magdalene was called to be (there’s no record of her marrying), then Sis, God has called…..ordained for you to be a WIFE. You were created to be a God-fearing man’s……. GOOD THING!
“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22 NIV
Now, let’s be honest here, being a WIFE is NOT an easy calling. I know that the movies and television series depict a much easier life, which is most likely, why so many of us viewed the duty of being a WIFE, as an easy, elegant, fairytale when we were younger. But baaaaby………. many of us realized soon enough, that being a WIFE is no fairytale and it surely, isn’t easy nor elegant. However, being a WIFE is PURPOSEFUL, FRUITFUL, REWARDING, and so much more. Good things just don’t come easy, so being a wife requires SUBMISSION, SACRIFICE, COMPROMISE, DEDICATION, and DYING TO SELF.
“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” Proverbs 31:10 NIV
Some of us may have a serious problem with that evil word, SUBMISSION! Sis don’t let the devil fool you. Actually, we are ALL called to be submissive, but as far as marriage is concerned, the husband has an obligation to submit to God, allowing for a safe space for his WIFE to submit to him. Submitting to your husband is a blessing, rather a curse. However, this is why it is important that we allow for God to choose our mate, and not our fears, traumas and insecurities. The husband that God chooses for us will create such an environment, that we will want to submit to him. In return, we must also be our husbands PEACE and SAFE PLACE, as well. We must build him up, serve him and love him as God loves us………. even in the difficult times. FOR BETTER, OR FOR WORST, right? Now, worst does NOT mean that we become a doormat to any kind of abuse, but again, this is why it is important to allow for God to choose our mate.
“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.” Ephesians 5:22-24 NIV
Whether you are in a waiting season, or have already made a vow, YOU ARE A WIFE! YOU ARE A GOOD THING. YOU ARE CALLED and EQUIPPED, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS. Don’t get distracted by the lies of the enemy; he can fool society, but not you……….. you are GOD’S DAUGHTER, and you know that Gods way, is the ONLY way. I also, want to encourage those of you that are becoming tired and weary, whether you are eating on a husband, or already have one……………. KEEP GOING. His grace is all that you need. Allow for His Word, to be a lamp for your feet, guiding you in this season.
